Strongly recommend avoiding Direct Ferries and booking directly through ferry companies. With Direct Ferries it will (probably) all go fine until it doesn't.
A few highlights to note -
- If you take their cancellation insurance you need to provide 48 hours notice. This isn't highlighted so be aware.
- In my case, I paid for a change of date but when it came through the dates were different from what I paid for. Of course, you don't expect to be sold a different product from what you paid for so I didn't triple check the email.
- Their custumer service is chat only, through the app. They disappear when the hours are over leaving issues unresolved. In any case they need to call the ferry operator and are on hold to them like everyone else.

In short - just avoid these guys and book directly with operators (even if it looks like they got you a good deal).

All good. Easy. Just not sure if we are taking the same car I’ve said we are going in. It all depends on what the car fire place give us. So I hope we can change that. Otherwise great service.

We have been using this site for our Ferry Bookings to and from France for a year or so now, and we are delighted. Booking is easy, communications are straightforward and accurate. We were alerted about recent problems due to storm Darragh affecting sailings. Overall an easy service that we are happy to use again and again. In fact, we have just booked again for February 2025!

I booked and paid for a return trip Dover Calais via P&O on 17-21 September 2025. I get an email this morning stating and I quote, “we are processing your request to cancel your booking”. This statement is a completely false, I did not request a cancellation, in fact I booked a fully flexible ticket and if these sailings were not available I would have simply changed the booking. I checked on the Direct Ferries app and the exact same booking is still available at the same price, so why cancel my booking with no contact or explanation?
I have tried to get in contact with company, all you get is a bot via their app, which is useless obviously has no empathy. I have been told that at some point, they may contact me about my complaint. I have contacted them via email and left my mobile number so they can explain in person what exactly has occurred in this instance. Should Direct Ferries take the time to resolve this matter in an amicable way, I will alter this review to a more favourable one.... Read more

Easy to use site for a quick booking. Would prefer to have all costs known at the beginning rather than ad a £4.99 charge at the end

It's easy to miss alternative date when booking, would be mice if they were bolded or underlined to show what has changed exactly. Nice to be able to select different outbound/inbound ports when looking at booking options.
