They made sure he felt comfortable, explaining everything step by step and taking their time. It turned what could have been a stressful experience into a really positive one. Been having my hair cut by Paul for a number of years now. The cut is fantastic and I always take a pic as I can't style it the way he does. It's an enjoyable experience and we always have a great chat.
Steve does other people's hair but have always got on really well with him too. Always feel welcome and the friendly banter is fun and often hilarious. Now where's my £20?

Paul has been, at eye-watering expense, attempting to cut what is left of my hair for many years now and I have no doubt that one day he will make a reasonable job. In the meantime I consider myself a hostage to fortune and surrender myself to his tender mercies on a monthly basis; if not for the quality of his tonsorial labours, then certainly for the atmosphere of the salon, which, compared with other dens of iniquity I have oft frequented, never fails to disappoint.

Steve plays the role of the jolly fat man as if from central casting, whilst Paul is the arch curmudgeon of the duo, always negative in his outlook, and easily riled, which usually culminates in an outburst of insults and expletives. His varied selection of ill-fitting checked shirts and too-tight trousers (surely a last ditch attempt to cling to his fading youth and expanding waistline) are always a welcome sight.

Steve has recently invested in a fancy coffee machine, for the benefit and enjoyment of clients. Unlike either him or Paul it seems perfectly capable of delivering a splash of sweet-tasting warm liquid on demand. I was fortunate on a recent visit to be offered a cup of Steve’s hot froth and can honestly say I have seldom enjoyed more the sensation of it slipping down my throat.

In summary, it is not for the faint-hearted, but I would not even consider going anywhere else.

My first visit subsequently led to a third and sadly I will be PERManently leaving York, this place will be hard to beat. I would just like to say this is one of the best hairdressers I've been to in recent years:
1. Super friendly service which makes you feel relaxed and open to discuss what you want doing. (Coffee and tea available also)
2. Professional, skilled hairdressers - high quality cuts (speaking a male)
3. Affordable prices without breaking the bank (£20 wash and cut)
4. Trendy decor, one of the gents even wears a cool leather apron.
5. Clean and Hygienic.
Paul who cut my hair each time, made it worth the visit. Highly recommended as a one off use if your passing through the City (may be worth booking depending on the time of week/year) if you want a regular haircut fortnightly, monthly or every 6 weeks, I would say look no further. Support your local business. These guys will keep your hair looking top quality.

Recommended for any women wanting a nice sharp barber cut - Paul charges the same regardless of who's in the chair and there's no risk of being turned away.
