I found a job vacancy on Indeed. After a while, I was contacted by a man named Nathan from the Thrive agency. He told me there was a role available for Thursday and Friday. I immediately explained that I had important plans on Thursday and could only work on Friday. However, he insisted that I had to work both days if I wanted the job. So, I cancelled all my plans, filled in all the necessary forms as he asked, and showed up for work.

I actually really enjoyed the job and would be happy to continue working there. Nathan told me he would let me know on Friday afternoon which shifts I’d be working the following week. But when I finished work and checked the rota in the canteen — my name wasn’t on it at all.

I messaged him straight away, but he didn’t reply until Monday morning, saying that he now had one shift available for me. I told him this was completely unprofessional. Reputable agencies inform people at least a day in advance — this kind of last-minute notice is unacceptable. I also asked him for my schedule for the week, but I’ve had no response since then.

And that’s not even the end of it. I asked him if he needed more workers, because I have friends who are looking for jobs. He said yes, and told me to give them his number so they could message him directly. They did exactly that — and once again, either he replied a whole day later or didn’t respond at all.

So how can I recommend someone like this to my friends? How can I trust an agent who ignores messages, gives no clear information, and leaves people hanging? This is a complete lack of professionalism and basic respect for workers. I strongly advise everyone to avoid dealing with Nathan from Thrive — you’ll just waste your time and energy.

I was very happy with my experience with thrive Bolton.The recruitment advisor was always polite when I spoke to her and was very helpful with any problems I encountered. I also got the shifts I applied for and not asked to do anything unreasonable without good notice. My wages were always on time and correct I had no problems recommending Bolton Thrive recruitment to anyone who is looking for temp work.

Thrive Agency are a breath of fresh air compared to some other agencies. Every week without fail I receive my payslip on the Wednesday and my wage is in the bank on the Friday. Not only that but it's always correct without any need for frustrating communication. Standard you might think, but not with many that are out there, even some my work colleagues are constantly experiencing exhausting issues regarding their pay on a regular basis. Booking holidays with Thrive is also straightforward, again there's no drama. On top of that the guys at my agency Thrive Bolton, add the smallest of touches that make all the difference, wishing you a good weekend or perhaps a good holiday. The icing on the cake for me, was when a company let me go, I was a newly qualified Class 2, it knocked my confidence and I questioned my desire to continue in the HGV industry. Thrive were so supportive, they told me to take some time to think about it, and that they were there if required. An agency that was not being pushy for their own benefit, made me feel wanted. I'm signed up with 4 agencies, but I can honestly say that Thrive Bolton are just the best.

Absolutely shocking I applied for work at the Bolton office after an advert on indeed and was informed by a local client they were screaming for drivers. Filled all relevant paper work sent references and licences over 4 weeks ago. I’ve called the office every week and been fobbed off every time being told the people I need are not in the office and I’ve never received a call back. But yet said client is still desperate for drivers. Complete waist of time and the poor clients.
