We recently sold our flat in Shepherds Bush through Winkworth, having also bought through them in 2015 and the service was excellent.
Whilst personnel changed during the sale, which we appreciate can happen, and we had to therefore work with different sales managers, we were very appreciative to be offered a reduced commission for the inconvenience, whilst the service continued to be very good. Excellent communication on email and telephone with regular updates. We sold in a tough market and didn’t quite get the price we wanted, but Winkworth always seemed to have the very best intentions for us as sellers. Thankyou and as a result would highly recommend Winkworth if thinking of selling.

Winkworth - A Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish

UPDATE SINCE INITIAL REVIEW:
Following the end of my tenancy, Winkworth have now deducted the cost of a professional clean from my deposit, citing dust as the primary reason for this. The property has been sat empty for six weeks before the check-out report was conducted, yet I’m still being held responsible for the dusty condition. When I queried this, I was told I remained liable until the official tenancy end date and could have re-entered the property at any time—despite the team knowing I was vacating at the end of June and leaving my keys behind, with no communication from them about the formal check-out procedure or what to do with the keys.

They also attempted to charge me for two items that were already reported and investigated during my tenancy—one dating back to January, neither of which were ever resolved.

Once again, dealing with Winkworth feels like banging my head against a brick wall. Emails are skim-read at best, accountability is non-existent, and responses are vague and poorly worded. They excel at making the process so frustrating that the easiest option is simply to give up. I was offered the chance to raise a claim with TDS, but I declined—I just want to be done with this experience.

My tenancy with Winkworth was marred by poor communication, repeated mismanagement, and a lack of professionalism throughout. From the outset, basic standards of service were not met.

During my tenancy:

• I was repeatedly contacted while abroad despite clearly stating my availability and time zone, and granting access with keys.
• I received emails about renewing my tenancy while I was actively pursuing early termination.
• I was contacted regarding gas safety inspections for a property that was already vacant.
• Staff emails often lacked professionalism and consistency, leaving me uncertain about who to communicate with due to constant changes in property managers.
• I had to verify viewing agents via Winkworth’s website to confirm legitimacy, as communication around viewings was inconsistent or missing altogether.
• A communal lighting issue went unresolved until I used my professional email to escalate it—only then did I witness resolution, without any follow-up from Winkworth.
• My oven broke near the end of my tenancy and this was met with silence and multiple ignored follow-ups, making resolution unnecessarily difficult.

One of the final straws was being publicly blamed by a Winkworth representative, in front of both my partner and prospective tenants, for the property not being vacant—despite Winkworth’s own oversight. This kind of behaviour doesn’t just lack professionalism—it actively undermines confidence in the agency.

Even post-tenancy, communication only resumed after I escalated the matter to Client Relations. It’s a shame, because with basic care and responsibility, much of this could have been avoided.

I wouldn’t recommend Winkworth to anyone looking for clarity, respect, or reliable property management.

Regarding Michael Anthony, there are very few individuals that you meet who are truly exceptional by way of motivation, experience, and knowledge of the right amount of ‘push and pull’ to ensure a complex task reaches full completion.

Our move would most likely not have happened had it not been for Michael’s highly adept coordination of two other sets of estate agents, and three other sets of lawyers. There was a striking absence of communication throughout much of the chain, with the exception of Michael, who kept us informed on a frequent basis. I would add that these updates were not only once a significant milestone in the process had occurred, but he also checked in frequently, to ensure that no momentum was lost even when things were stalling.

I will be going out of my way to recommend him to all my friends in the area under Winkworth (for instance, all parent chat groups), and will do so again next spring, where a substantial amount of houses come onto the market), and whilst we anticipate this recent purchase to be a house for life, should we need to sell any of our other properties in the area, we will seek him out without a second thought.
